Hola!
Here we go again in a new life city, Driyorejo Gresik Eastern Java.
So this is my third month, in-charged as PIC for my new job in my new company. Actually this is part of our business expansion that still beginning. Although my company based in Jakarta, the expansion enlarge to other area basically from cooperation with foreign investment. This is one of my duty to service our client, as well as our business partners in Surabaya to scale up and manage the fresh dollar from Singapore, Turkey and US.
So, maybe this kind of our new investment project that targeted to Middle and Eastern Java, concentrated around Batang Industrial Area, and also in Driyorejo Central Business District. So to handle it on parallel, I work mobile from Semarang to Surabaya city.
Since our partner decided to take over a warehouse around western area of Surabaya city currently, this made me involved and even live in around here to supervise the area and prepare for the business documentation.
So what’s around?
First thing first I can tell that this area is not rural at all. Even I can say that this small city is going developed as new advanced city out from Surabaya. So many private company invest here to build and develop the area of Central Business District, Driyorejo area. In fact it still not an official city yet, but the conditions is much further now.
You can see by the conditions, where the private toll road and big housing and office is running and some of them ready operated, many big brands’ franchiser already exist here. But after all of the development, what get me annoyed is the air so polluted! Because the area is near with big plants around Surabaya, Gresik and Sidoarjo, temperature high, and sometimes the fog from plants is contribute for the hot weather. It felt almost alike Bekasi I think. Hot, yes so damn hot haha
Lately we heard Jakarta got pollutions issues, but so on in Surabaya here. The weather quiet hot and full of fog and dust. But more than that, I can say that it is not that worst, I got a rented room that little bit away from the big plants area. I got the rented room provided by my company as compliment. So yeah, when the sun is coming, I just run into my air-con room, or maybe nearest coffeeshop yeah! it is time to more adaptive mode for the local weather LOL.
Driyorejo it self, is officially part of Gresik instead of Surabaya. But for geographically, it is more closer to Surabaya compare to the capital area of Gresik itself. Just imagine this is brand new business central area, where the business and plants around Surabaya, Gresik, and Sidoarjo expanded and centralized here as the intersection of that three big cities in Eastern Java.
How’s my life here?
Basically its more calming down I think. Mention it, the weather, society, languages, I can handled it so far. Lol compare my self just at the first time come here, living in outer city like Driyorejo here little bit different and sometimes need some adaptation. The temperatures, water, people culture, languages, even food and also daily activities here. I felt sometimes different with local so I push my self not so far contrast by them, because this is kind of not comfortable sometimes.
Even at first, my Jakarta tongue sounds strange, my baby face (lol) also very different with local people here so I need to more humble and mingle just for socialize. Not only that, physical adaptation is real, my eyes got red almost several days just because the dust that brought by wind. My skin got allergy, its becoming red and itchy, especially at night and found out it has got allergic with the wind and water here. What a combo allergic hey!
But so on so for, life must be going on. I try my best to deliver my best, not only professionally but also personally. Not only running the business documentation and all working stuffs, I learned the local wisdom here. I try some basic words to communicate with locals, also explore the market and local resto and coffee shop. I think it is one good momentum for me to have a time in exploring one more kinda new live, adapt in a new place again, learn the local and learn back about my self of course.
After all, the good news is I have more flexible time for my jobs here. I have more free time, good for my self development, and especially for taking care my self again. I have gained weight almost 20 kilos before, maybe it was since last two years living in Jakarta. And now I found my self going back to normal weight after daily sports, as well as supported with so many healthy food resource here. Fruit, salad, and even healthy original peanuts, TEMPEE! (I love tempe so much!) and original coffee all is easy and more cheaper compare to Jakarta. This is my starting point to optimize my diet and bring back healthy lifestyle (yeah!)
Besides, for mental conditions, I have so big changes for less stress and away from hustle culture anymore. Say no more to rush morning routine and traffics. I have more time for take longer morning run or even just for walk around. But special notes: don’t ever again running more than at 10 a.m. Latest after I did that and suddenly I got sun burn in the neck and hands. It is real! Never outdoor after 10 a.m when sun is going up, or the heat really could burn your skin hardly immediately by it’s ultraviolet and what so ever that worse to your skin. This is hot really!.
So after get used to adapt the weather, and new daily routine, I have more pleasure living here. I can say it is not bad decision again to take this chance and especially when I got the task to supervised the field area of Eastern and Middle Java here.
So Keep calm guys, I still alive, and even living my best here. Hahah Although the adaption process still running even now, but my body has improved and adapt to fit with the conditions. I consumed medicine for skin and take skin balm to repair the skin. Better now!
How long I will stay here?
Yeah, I know I got so many my friends asked me about this. I actually don't know when the exact time until I get back to Jakarta. Since my job here is really brand new initiated business, when nobody handled it, so I think my boss still put me mobile and moving around and around between Semarang and Surabaya to run the business.
I still can have short escape to Jogja and Cirebon tho, so it is not boring at all. I got all the easy access for transportation; plane, train, bus, car, bike, everything I need just provided, so I think it is very fair enough to be consider stay and walk the process. (Hmm really? LOL I think so..)
After all, hopefully however the live brought me here, I am sure there is bigger agenda for Allah give me this. Maybe even if I can step back, I can see this as a blessing, and the answer of all my prayers lately that request much calm moment and days so I can away from all of stress that I got during my live in Jakarta.
